This book had a very slow start for me, and I felt like I slogged through the first seven chapters ar so. I couldn't figure why Alex would hang around with Murray if he was such a louse. After Luke entered the picture, the story picked up for me, and the ending was great. I also loved Alex's mother. She seemed modern and "with it," and she obviously loved and supported Alex greatly in his personal and professional endeavors.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. It's a feel-good sweet and hot romance and I loved it.
Alex, once a one hit wonder named Flicky, have for years been ripped of and ill-treated both by his boyfriend and his former A&R Administrator. One is after his money and the other his body, one part in particular. But after meeting Luke, everything changes.
This story is, for me, about trust, forgivness and taking a chance. The build up might seem a little long, but is necessary for making well developed characters. I enjoyed reading the protagonist's POV, but would love to see things frome Luke's POV.
I love Alissa more with each story. She is so off the wall, tongue in cheek, and dry whit genius. It kinda creeped me out that Murray had his paws (and other things) on Luke first befoe Alex. When Murray "spilled the beans" to Luke about his and Alex's past I was so p*ssed that Alex didn't clarify things with Luke right then and there. @sshat!! Alex's mom was so delightfully delicious. I loved her zanny character and banter. It was truly gratifying to see the remorse and growth Murray showed in the end. Kudos. Great announcement at the concert woohoo! I voluntarily read a free copy of this book and am giving an honest review.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Showed some truths of the entertainment industry at the artist's expense. My heart went out to Alex from the first chapter. MC, Alex, a has been popstar, has been and still is being taken advantage of by the industry. As he strives to prove his true worth and strength to himself, he not only finds love, but his well awaited aclaim. Milton's humor laced writing makes any read enjoyable. I accepted this book as an ARC and look forward to Milton's next story.
This is a story of Alex Beauregard aka Flicky Hernandez, a washed up one hit wonder rock star, attempting a comeback in the music industry. His present boyfriend, Murrey Bells, is his sleezy manager who in his ineptitude, squeezes most of Alex's money from him in his failed managerial attempts. Alex meets Luke Rogers, a college student hoping to break into the business end of the music field himself. HOT sparks fly in their romance. I laughed throughout most of this book, especially in the character of Alex's mother, Melanie. The author, Steve Milton, can write hot, sexy love scenes like no other. HEA and no cliffhanger. Love all his books, this one is no exception.
I love this book, plain and simple.
Alex character is of such a wonderful complexity, and we can see from where he is coming. We might want to slap some sense into him at times, but we get it. He knows he needs to get away from his toxic relationship with his boyfriend, knows that he must do something if he wants to be back into the music business, but can't see a way out. So he hide in a hotel room with his music.
And boy, did he have some really bad luck with people! His boyfriend/manager, his previous A&R, his possible new one... predators, all of them.
I particularly like the way his relationship with Luke evolves, all the ups and downs, how they deal with the differents issues that keep coming.
And then, we also have Alissa who is, hands down, one of my favorite characters ever. Her dry sense of humor, her willingness to help. A smart lady with a great heart. Although let's be honest, here she doesn't seem to be able to get the right guy for her client.
As always with Steve Milton, the writing is amazing. Pick this book, you won't be disappointed.
Well, first of all I'd like to say that this book was exceptionally written. I mean, I can't imagine anybody complaining about editing issues, as I usually see in a lot of reviews. I'm trying not to summarize the story, since I don't want to ruin anything, but I did enjoy this big comeback of Alex with his music career and his life in general (he was seen as a one hit wonder). Murray was his boyfriend /manager who usually only took his money, but never really helped his career. There's a lot of lies and deception going around, even on Alex's part when he meets his new love interest, Luke. Actually, I thought that Alex was somewhat pompous at first until a bit later in the story, although with Alissa (dating service owner) he's open and funny. There were many hilarious moments in this story that had me laughing out loud, for sure. There's some surprises, and lots of heat between Luke and Alex, and the ending was so sweet........Spoiler........... Even, Murray became more introspective and changed his evil ways. Overall, an eloquently told, impressive read. )
